The hike takes about an hour or so up to the lava field if you are not in a hurry. It's not like there are all kinds of critters at every step, but the forest and the scenery up at the end is very nice....More

Another good stop, we didn't spend a lot of time here as we were on our way to a hot springs. Still worth a quick trip.

Lots of active volcanoes in Costa Rica. In 2018 we watched as Arenal blow out steam, smoke, ash and some bombas.(large rocks)

Great view from the La Fortuna area and town. Amazing view from little plaza in town right above the town centers church. Volcano is massive

So we found reviews on trip advisor saying "the hike takes an hour" it doesn't the hike is around 5 hours there and back, if you do the whole thing and hike to the lake in the centre, we're young and fit and hike regularly....More

We admire the nature. We did not see any animals but the view is just perfect. Make sure you have good shoes because it is a long walk.
