We enjoyed morning walks and evening sunsets along this beach during our vacation. It is much quieter and definitely cleaner than playa coco. Each stroll was a little different with scenes of various fishermen, changing skies, different boats and new people. Often you could count...More

One of the prettiest beaches. Worth visiting because of it’s black sand. We’ve heard snorkelling is good. Little pools of water in formed rock area to the side which we sat in. Saw an eel, sea cucumber and many fish. Playa coco is about 15...More

This beach is roughly 3kms from the much busier Playa del Coco. It is a must do. Magical location surrounded by rocky cliffs, with good snorkelling, at low tide there are tide pools to keep you busy. Find the large almond with the swing and...More

Small beach but awesome. The water is amazing and the views are extraordinary. Small compared to other local beaches however definitely worth it. I would recommend for couples who want to spend some alone time in the sun. There are no umbrellas or chairs unless...More

This is a quieter area compared to playas del coco... this is our second time to Costa Rica and I honestly preferred the Potrero/flamingo area much better. The villa we rented was nice. There isn't very many food choices in ocotal but father roosters was...More

Far from other amenities in the town area, but getting away from the crowds to spend some time on a quiet beach was exactly what I was looking for.

Gorgeous black sand beach! Father Roosters is a perfect bar and restaurant that can accommodate allergies! Perfect snorkelling right off the beach. Rent a gold cart and you are 10 min from busy playa del coco!

The day we went the waters were quite rough due to the winds but the beach was still very beautiful. We went up into the hills and took some beautiful pictures of the ocean. Not as busy as El Coco beach.
