- Michelle HCalifornia13 contributionsBest time at Baldi! This place was a highlight of our trip! I read how it can be busy and lots of kids running around, but for us, we barely saw anyone else! We went at the end of October (low season) and arrived around 4pm just as it was getting dark. The lighting at night really makes this place magical. We had a few drinks at the bar and the service was great. Since we were one of the only people there, we were given extra attention and didn't want to leave. There are some fees which got a little confusing, but I understand it. We checked in and bought the day use ticket. If you want towels, you pay a deposit at the towel area. But if you want a locker (which is the same location as the towels) you pay at the front desk. It would be nice to have one price, one location as a package for it all. I would definitely go to Baldi again!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 November 2023
- Tena JSan Jose, Costa Rica29 contributionsSplash and Play, But Eat ElsewhereWe got a day pass with lunch included. There were many pools and we were delighted that each pool had a sign that listed its temperature. There are some thermal pools that have cool water pools nearby. At night, the colorful lights on the waterfall tower were spectacular! There were shallow pools with built-in lounges and a swim-up bar in another. The design is certainly well thought out. The customer service was stellar! As you walk around, when staff pass by, they always verbally acknowledge you. BUT the lunch buffet was pretty horrible. The pork in BBQ sauce was tasty, but I nearly broke a tooth because it was so tough. The rolls were stale and dry. The mashed potatoes were obviously instant and way too salty. The veggies were cooked to death, the chicken was dust, the pasta was mush, and both sauces, red and white, were watery and insipid. Desserts were your typical jello-like cheesecake and a fruit sponge with more whipped cream than cake. The best thing we ate was the fresh pineapple. It was sweet and delicious. DO NOT pay $22 for lunch. Leave, eat, and come back. Trust me.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 7 November 2023
- wayne m8 contributionsAwesome resortWe stayed for 5 days at the resort . 4 th floor rooms have tall ceilings. Staff is wonderful and friendly and the place is impeccably. Clean breakfast is included in the morning and it’s a fantastic spread highly recommended. We are friends from the United States and had a great time.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 13 November 2023
- Jeff FRockville, Maryland12 contributionsGreat choice great serviceBaldi was a very nice hotel. Our room was lovely, the bed was very comfortable and the hot springs were relaxing. We particularly appreciate Josif at the desk. When a tour company never picked us up, Josif called another company and arranged for us to join their tour only a couple of hours later. He was fabulous! The restaurant was nice for breakfast and ok for dinner. I did like the mil fruit salad quite a bit. The only suggestion I'd make is to include one hand towel in the room with the other towels.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 February 2024
- Elizabeth WilsoWashington DC, District of Columbia14 contributionsAll good. The hots Springs was amazing. The service was very good, we stayed two nights with my boyfriend and Baldi's staff was always very good. From the reception, they treated us very well, and were always very attentive. In the Restaurant the food was good, but I don't know why they didn't change the menu, it was always the same in the buffet day or night. Although it was very good. I highly recommend it, they have many pools and you can relax in each of them. The pool bar is very good, once you are inside you don't want to leave.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 March 2024
- Scott BAthens, Georgia5 contributionsGood…could have been better.Very crowded. Price was not too bad. Many spring features with walk up bars. We’re not told some were premium and cost way more till you settled up. Not cool. Staff was pleasant but they were slow to help.Obviously understaffed. With the cost, that is not something that should happen. Overall we had a good time but need better focus on customer experience.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 15 April 2024
- jclebecBrooklyn, New York83 contributionsBeautiful hot springs, better for adults. While an amazing set up with so many pools that you never feel crowded, we found this to be a tough destination for our family with kids ages 5 and 7. They were too little for the water slides which was very disappointing to them (there are height restrictions ) and too big for the kid play area. W found some of the bathrooms to be missing toilet paper, and the buffet lunch was mediocre- dry meat, didn’t seem that fresh. Recommend this for adults, only.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 April 2024
- Olivier C50 contributionsUpscale relaxing afternoon or eveningVery nice upscale hot springs. A great place to spend a relaxing afternoon or evening as a couple. There are different types of environment in each hotspring (music, calm, adult oriented, kids or family oriented). They provide towels if you need some. Although small, you can have access to a locker (extra charge) if you come as an outside guest. The only downside I would have to say is that most hotsprings are very hot (109 F) and there are only a few smaller pools with cool water (70 F). Some would find it perfect that way, but when it’s sunny and over 35 degree Celsius, not everyone can withstand the extra heat.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 May 2024
- Ramses G2 contributionsFun Family Day at BaldiI had a great time at Baldi with the family. The different temperature pools allowed each of us to find a favorite, but ultimately, we all chose the hottest pool. If you're traveling with kids, they have water slides that are perfect for younger family members. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the all-you-can-eat buffet was horrible. Save your money, eat at a local soda, and come back to Baldi if you have a day pass. With the day pass, you can leave and reenter.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 19 June 2024
- Kim CAmherstburg, Canada34 contributionsRelaxing and rejuvenatingThis is more of a resort atmosphere. There are hot pools and cold pools. So it’s fun to go between. They have water slides a kids area and swim up bars. We also ate at the restaurant not at the buffet. This resort is more for families it is not as tranquil as some of the others geared towards adults that are more spa like.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 July 2024

First I would like to start by saying im a local from Costa Rica, usually I stay in other small hotels but I wanted to try something new so I tried Baldi and what a TERRIBLE experience. Starting from the staff being rude thinking they own the place. The room is a nightmare, it does not look like the pictures, the facilities are really outdated unless you pay for a junior suite, the pillows in the regular rooms were hard and like 200 years old, i literally woke up with neck pain , i called the staff and the lady who brought “different” pillows gave me an attitude because she literally brought back more bad pillows, management or anyone seems to care. If you get a regular room I will tell you they will make you feel like a dog. We paid $300 per night for the worst room i ever stayed in my life. Not even in Nicaragua you will find such a bad hotel.... If you come to this place and pay for a standard room, prepare to go into an old and outdated room with hard pillows

We went here on the commendation of our hotel. The facility itself was nice although a bit pricy. We rented towels at the cost of $10 each. We put the towels down on the edge of one of the pools. When we went to retrieve them, someone had taken them. We walked all around, trying to locate them. We talked to the employee where we had picked up the towels. He directed us to the front to talk to his manager. They all suggested that we come back at 10pm to see if anyone had turned in towels without a receipt. Really? Really? Clearly someone had taken our towels and was not going to turn them back in. We were out our $20 and unless we wanted to fork over another $20, after already having spent over $100 there, we would just be wet. We had considered staying for dinner but at this point we just left, very unhappy. It would have cost them NOTHING to give two middle aged women a towel. What it cost them was a good review. Really poor customer service.

Beautifully kept hot springs and very nice accommodation. The best part about staying there was that after a day of sight seeing we’d come back to all the day trippers leaving and be left with an almost entirely empty hot spring resort. They don’t have many rooms here so once it closes to the public you have a few hours reserved for hotel guests only. It’s just magical!

We've traveled all over the world and this was by far the best resort we've ever seen. The best part of staying at the hotel is getting much more privacy when people aren't around for the day passes. Having such a huge resort all to yourselves in the morning and evenings is so amazing. Even during the day it wasn't crowded so not too much of a difference either way to be honest. We loved exploring around the property especially at night time. It was also very fun to lay in one of the pools during the afternoon rains. Cold rain in the hot pools was a great sensation.
The rooms were huge. We had a big shower area and bathtub in between the bedroom and shower. Plenty of space to store everything. It is a pretty far walk from the rooms at the top all the way to the bottom but most of the time you're just walking from pool to pool so it's not a big deal.
Customer service was fantastic. Nearly every time we were walking around someone offered us a ride in a golf cart to our rooms. The staff were always going out of their way to help us. It made our stay that much better.
Our only complaint was the food. The breakfast was okay but the lunch and dinners were pretty bad. With as many options as they had you would think at least a few items would be good. I would rate the food a 2/10. Just eat somewhere else. That was definitely a disappointment considering how nice everything else was at the hotel. If they had better food I would rate this hotel a 5/5 but I can't in good conscience sine it was just awful and the same items every single day.
In conclusion, I still highly recommend visiting this resort for all of the amazing things they do offer just make sure you find alternatives to the food at the resort which is a disgrace.

We booked a spa day pass for Baldi Spa through our hotel. It was roughly $40/45 dollars for a full day pass and dinner.
We arrived around 4pm. There are changing facilities and lockers to store your belongings.
There are a number of different pools ranging in different temperatures. The higher up you go, the temperature of the pools increase. I believe it ranges from 25 degrees to 60 degrees.
The spa was magical at night. Some of the pools are not under cover so you feel as though you outside. It is a very relaxing experience and a lovely way to spend an evening.
Some of the pools have bars so you can have a drink. Cocktails were around $15.
The dinner was served buffet style. This was very average but needed after being in the hot pools.

A little pricey but worth the money! Buy tickets before you go for a discount. We used Pura Vida travel, paid in cash and saved 15% on each ticket. Our tickets also got us an amazing dinner buffet. Find the caves but be really mindful about the waterslides! Watch other people exit before you go on so you know what to expect. The slides are fast and could be dangerous if you are unaware. Other than that, drinks in the thermal pools were great and the overall experience was top notch.

We came as a family with an 8 year old and had a great day. We took our own towels and used the lockers which were about $7. The pools and all facilities were clean and varied and we had a great time. Loved the sauna pool and cave sauna. Staff were really friendly to us. The children’s area is great for younger kids and the bigger slides you may do at your own risk but the one that winds around is the safest one.
We had lunch here too as day guests and whilst it’s not the cheapest it was fine and included soft drinks and teas and coffees and desserts buffet style.
We parked on-site and you can come and go as you like so we went in the morning and then returned in the evening for the nighttime experience which was really fun. The very last pools at the top are really nice.

We stayed in the area and wanted to check out the place, so we walked over for dinner. An attentive bilingual staff member gave us a great golf cart tour of the large hillside property, very impressive. Bearing in mind that it was the rainy season midweek and only a few folks were in the large dining room, we ordered food that should be easy to do well: bruschetta, gambas al ajillo, spaghetti bolognese, glasses of the house wines. The service was attentive and polite, but the food was a big disappointment that good service couldn't overcome. The bruschetta was drowning in cheese (cheese? on bruschetta?) and this wasn't an improving twist on the recipe. The shrimp were overcooked, lacking in garlic, and served with mashed potatoes that clearly came from a box. The spag bol featured as much refined sugar as beef or pork and sauced in a watery mess. The buffet restaurant may be better, but we would definitely skip the a la carte restaurant in future, especially with so many better restaurants just down the road.

Decided to go for the mid range ($40) day pass and were so glad we did - we went on a Monday morning and pretty much had the place to ourselves. It’s absolutely stunning and we made full use of all 25 different pools, as well as treating ourselves to a cocktail in the top swim up bar, which was amazing (and lethal!) BUT, we were swayed into having a cocktail after being handed a ‘ticket’ giving WIFI which mentioned cocktails were $10 and advised tabs needed to be opened at the main (ground level - see pic) bar.....as I’d brought my Amex card which wasn’t accepted I paid CR 50,000 for the tab. At the top bar we noticed the cocktails were priced at $20 so checked if we were allowed and thought we’d got a deal. It was only when I did the exchange calculation I realised I’d paid $88!!!! The barman gave us a receipt so I took that and got a refund for the difference and while basically the same price as back home with amazing setting, did leave a sour the taste in the mouth.
Having read the buffet reviews and given there wasn’t much info on what would be provided (I have dietary needs) we ate before coming and had a snack at the lockers, you can come and go so we had contemplated coming back for the evening but with the reality of the drinks costs, decided to hit a soda and the supermarket for the evening instead!!

We visited here on a cooler rainy day and it was a magical paradise! There are several levels of thermal pools of varying size and temperatures. The top is so hot you can hardly stand it, the middle about 109 degrees and the bottom pools are much cooler. This lets you select a pool for your comfort level. There are several pool levels with swim up bars and water slides as well. Once you pay your admission you can stay all day, have lunch, or leave and come back. We bought the ticket at our hotel for $38 per person. It’s truly is like a magical tropical paradise inside. We were so pleasantly surprised. Lockers and towels are available for an additional fee. This is a must due attraction when visiting the area.

If you are staying at the Baldi hotel, is the daypass included with your room rate or discounted at all? Or is it the same price for everyone?

We had the same terrible experience on the waterslide. My husband is still having significant rib pain 12 days later. Has been for X-rays, but radiologist can't be sure if there is a fracture or not. My husband and teenagers who LOVE water slides all said these ones should be banned
Written 23 March 2019
I agree with the first post, the slides were a bit scary. I went down the “nondangerous” one and get a scratch on my back- not a big deal but didn’t want to do the more intense ones. I found out after I got home that my friend had gone here years ago and got a concussion from one of the slides. Pools are great. Maybe skip the slides

Hi,
I was wondering where can you buy the tickets for $32? On hotel website says $58 per person.
Also, do you know what hours are for the evening pass and are the slides open in the evenings?
Thank you,
Maryam

Not sure where to get the tickets for $32.00 or what hours are for the evening pass but the slides are definitely open in the evening.

If you book a spa service, does it include a day pass for the hot springs? I've browsed the website and I can't find if it's included in the spa price. Not staying at the hotel - if that makes a difference.
