Ok, so I know that when you’re in a country other than your own you should soak up as much local culture as possible, eat dishes only found in the region and even practice speaking the language... but sometimes (especially on an extended stay) you just want what’s familiar... for me it’s coffee and frozen yogurt! So I was super excited to see that they have a Starbucks and YogurtMania in this very model mall, including a movie theater and some great eating spots! It’s worth a visit if you just want something quick, easy and that translates in any language!

Plaza Real, Alajuela
A large, modern mall area built around a multiplex cinema.
A vast array of semi open-air, fast-food outlets and bars but no ‘fine dining’ restaurants that we spotted. A variety of shops but nowhere near the range we expected.
The outlet we used (Cosi) had menus in English but no one spoke it so there was a lot pointing at items due to our pathetic level of Spanish!

Bonjour Sanyika, J’habitte a Alajuela depuis 20 ans.
