Stayed here for Hurricane Irma ... gorgeous
Sep 2017 • Family
My daughter goes to school in Florida and was evacuated for Hurricane Irma. We had a hotel reservation for her, but it got accidentally cancelled. Here we were with a daughter about to drive through a hurricane and every hotel in Georgia and Alabama booked. I was panicking, and finally found the Freeky Tiki house on Lake Martin on Expedia.

The owner was amazing! He was so nice, and made several special accommodations for us because of the storm. He even texted me to give me updates about the weather, that things were okay, came early to open the place for her, etc.

And my daughter, who is not easy to please, just loved it. In the days leading up to Irma, the weather was gorgeous. The lake was beautiful and she just RAVED about the house. She will write her own review, but I'm the one who dealt with the owner of the house and I just couldn't have asked for nicer people in a million years. They were a port in a storm, literally.

My second home since childhood!

A truly fabulous lake with so much to see and do. Spend the day on a pontoon boat, a jet ski, or just trolling the banks. With over 600 miles of shoreline, you won't get bored. Lots of places to stay on the water along with marinas and restaurants. Visit chimney rock for a HIGH! Be safe on the water!

Always a delight to be on Lake Martin
Aug 2015
Always a delight to be on Lake Martin, especially early or late in
the day. It is so tranquil and beautiful and clean. We didn't have much luck fishing but enjoyed the beauty of the lake and being with each other.

Unexpected Jewel
Jun 2014 • Family
This destination was an unknown compromise between members of our far flung family. It was roughly equidistant for most of our members and we found a house big enough for all of our family thru VRBO. What and extremely pleasant compromise. The lake itself is quite large and pristine. The area is quite pretty and the perfect setting for families of all ages. The are has several good choices for restaurants and is close enough to several towns that offer many, many more choices from fast food to Gourmet. Many small islands and even an Island called Goat Island which was a huge attraction for the kids.

Great campsites and prices. Beautiful lake with docks
May 2014
This is one of the best camping experiences I've had. The campsite we had , had a boat dock, fishing deck, water spout, electric, grill, picnic table, garbage can, and lots of room for tents. The space was huge and plenty of space between campsites. We had sites 4 and 5. We took our friends boat out for tubing and wake boarding. The lake was 85 feet deep at the deepest spot. But shallow near our dock for our kids to swim and catch minnows and frogs. $17 a day for the site. The office has no supplies so bring all your food. There is a corner shop up the road about a mile or two that has a good amount of sundries and camp gear/ bait. This site was close to the bathrooms and shower. They are old and run down , but hey, it's camping, so we didn't mind. Overall we had a great time and I recommend it.
