Quaint but functional lighthouse stands tall among the stone and rock relics of Mahabalipuram. Seen from quite a distance, this is iconic structure and tourists throng the place to get a bird's eye view of the place. Prepare to climb around 100 odd stairs. A fee...More

Not a very tall lighthouse but the climb is a little tedious owing to the narrow steps and people climbing up and down the stairs at the same time. Not very safe for children for below 5 years of age as most can't negotiate the...More

In the same complex as Arjuna's Penance and Krishna's Butterball. Lighthouse plus a maritime museum. The view from the top is not spectacular, but why miss it ! Sort of a picnic spot now with locals, and a weekend drive for others.

Unique carvings in the cave temples (not deep and cannot get lost or trapped) and the extraordinary huge bas-relief where far better than the lighthouse which was not very different from counterparts found around the world.

Managed to climb up the tower in the sweltering heat. the views of the city were worth the climb. Climb was something similar to the Wallace monument but a bit easier. Should definitely climb to the top for the views

One can climb this easily. Stairs are very steep. Ticket charge is 10 rupees. Not allowed to stay there more than 5 minutes at top.

This 1400 years old light house stands proud on the shore of Bay of Bengal. This tower was built using natural stone with perfect balancing structure. Great view.
