My husband and I travelled for ten days with Rakesh as our driver. The trip organised by Pearl Tours was well organised and planned in consultation with us with Day trips in various places planned and really interesting. On occasion we were able to make suggestions to vary the route to take in particular attractions and Rakesh was a well-informed and entertaining guide. He is a safe driver who does not take risks and who does his utmost to ensure his clients comfort.
Unreservedly recommended.

We, 2 Austrian 20-year-old girls did 9-day Trip through Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan with Raju. (Company: Pearl India Tours, Rakesh Kumar) Raju was always just in time and had an answer to all our questions. He was reliable and took lovely care of us. He could give us great advices in every situation, because of his perfect knowledge about India and his excellent english. We never felt scared during our (sometimes very long) car rides, he drove very safe - we always slept during driving ;-) There was nothing he could do better. We are very happy about our choice to travel with Pearl India Tours and even more happier to get Raju as our driver.

Rakesh was recommended to us by other travellers and we booked our 11-day tour through Rajasthan (Delhi-Agra-Jaipur-Ranthambore-Pushkar-Jodhpur) by email. We met Rakesh personally on our first stopover in Delhi, two weeks before the actual trip, to discuss all details and for a downpayment. At that time, we still felt in good hands. Two weeks later we were picked up in Delhi by Manoj, a driver sent by Rakesh. Positives: Manoj drove us safely through Rajasthan and was always (with one exception) on time. All the rest was rather unnecessarily annoying. He tried to bring us to tourist restaurants where he probably received a provision, but we politely but firmly declined. He complained about our restaurant wishes, said it is too much traffic to drive there, or complained about our hotel booking in Jaipur’s old city (obviously, he didn’t like that we stayed in a Muslim part of town). His English was basic, although Rakesh promised a driver with good English skills. On our last day, we had the impression he wanted to drop us at the airport in Jodhpur asap so that he could start his return trip to Delhi as early as possible - we ended up spending an unnecessary three hours there. Miraculously, also 2x30USD disappeared out of my backpack during our trip. I can’t prove anything, but he was the only one having access to my backpack whilst I visited some sights and left all in the car - thinking it would be safe there. Of course, it could also have been lost somehow, but we travelled for 11 months now and never lost any cash…
Reading through other reviews, I recommend to only choose Pearl India Tours when travelling with Rakesh himself as he seems to be a nice and knowledgeable guy; but book elsewhere if he is not available or not willing to drive himself.

Rakesh is the best! He is nice, super friendly, attentive, funny and speaks very good English. He is a cautious and safe driver (which doesn't seem so easy in the crazy traffic of India), was always on time even over-punctual, explained a lot to us about India and introduced us to a lot of Indian food and drinks (Lassi!). We really enjoyed having him as a driver and can highly recommend doing a tour with him. Shukriyaa Rakesh and hope to see you again!

I just finished my 21-day tour of the Golden Triangle in India with my driver Rakesh Kumar and it was an experience of a lifetime. Here are some highlights and anecdotes from my trip:

Rakesh's "Spicy Jokes": My driver Rakesh has a unique sense of humor. Every day he had a new "Spicy Joke" ready, which made the ride through the hectic street life of India all the more entertaining. One joke I remembered: "Why do Indians always eat spicy food? So we stay cool even in the heat!" We laughed so much together!

Family dinner at Rakesh's: One evening Rakesh invited me to his home where I met his lovely wife Rupa and their two children. The food was authentic and delicious - I have never eaten so well in India.

Cooking class with Rupa: After tasting the delicious food at their home, Rupa offered me a cooking class. I learned how to make perfect samosas and prepare an authentic dal tadka. The best part? Rupa's secret spice blends that I hope to be able to recreate at home.

Rakesh's Agency: Rakesh runs a small agency with several drivers. Everyone I met was just as professional and friendly as he was. He organized the tours perfectly and even added some hidden gems on our route that I had never heard of before.

In conclusion, this trip with Rakesh and his family was much more than just a vacation. It was a deep cultural experience and an opportunity to see the real India off the beaten track. If you are looking for an authentic Golden Triangle experience, I highly recommend contacting Rakesh and his agency.

Tip: Ask Rakesh for his "Spicy Jokes" - you won't regret it!
