This is a beautiful beach. A good place to relax and sunbathe. The sea is rough with strong waves. Sea bath not recommended.

This stretch of beach seems wide enough and safe enough for a swim and relaxing on the beach. However, observe the tides and currents.

If you are looking for a quiet beach walk without lots of tourists this is a great beach. We stayed at Cinnabar Resort (Tangalle) for two nights around March 3, 2019. It is hard to tell where Medilla Beach, Tangalle Beach, and Rekawa Turtle Beach each start and stop. We walked north from Cinnabar Resort for 2 hours which got us all the way up the the turtle habitat area (then 2 hours back). Hardly no one else on the beach after the first 30 minutes. Surf is rough, so don't plan on swimming, but the beach is very beautiful. A few good places for sea shells too. At the north end (Rekawa), there are many rocks with tide pools, crabs, and sea urchins. This was just south of Turtles View Resort and Oruwella Road. Carry and apply your sunscreen often and wear hats and sun protective clothing (feet too) if out that long in sun.

Very nice beach which is very quiet. There is a nice seafood restaurant, which is very small and family run- the food there is very nice.

Be cautious of the rough waves! I got thrown under a few times but it was quite fun, it's quiet and clean beach.

Gorgeous beach, strong current. Very clean which is impressive. Lots of little cabanas, bars and restaurants spread along the beach. Quiet. No chance to swim due to the current, lots of big waves.

One of the most beautiful beach in Tangalle and in far down south of Sri Lanka. Isolated from the city and with many lodgings and restaurants available for guest to use.

This is an unspoiled beach where you can walk to your heart's content. Beach is very clean and calm but safe to walk even in the evening. There are lot of hotels along the beach yet you won't get disturbed.
There can be huge waves so you have to be on the watch. But beach is very wide except for a place or two and you can be safe.
