This temple opened up with 500 ''Pilima wahanse'' (statues) .Nellikulama temple built in 2006. This temple has become a popular destination for pilgrims to Anuradhapura.

I have visit Nellikulama Temple about 03 times. It’s an amazing place. It symbolizing the Loard Buddha and the other 500 Rahathun wahansela. Location is bit away from the Anuradhapura town.

The long row of statues representing the Buddha and 500 arahath monks looks impressive. But this is not a historical site. Located near the Thanthirimale - Anuradhapura Road. You can visit this site on the way back to Anuradhapura, after visiting Thanthirimale.

You find 500 statues to the top and a underground tunnel like thing with more statutes and paintings.

There are statues of 500 arahat Buddhist monks walking behind the Buddha.I am not sure whether foreign tourists are so much attracted to this temple. But for sure Locals.

Hi the total tour will take around 2 hours, yes the underground tunnels are open.

You can take public transport or else bicycle ride. also tuk tuk.
