This small but modern museum is situated off the road to Machu Picchu and near the start of the trail if you are hiking up from Aguas Calientes. 20 - 30 minute walk along the road from the town. Lots of historical photographs. Placards had...More
We found this to be too far off the beaten path (its a long hike on dirt road outside of Agua Calientes) and not worth the trek. It is a tiny museum with hardly any artifacts and mostly info you could have gotten off a...More
After visiting Machu Picchu yesterday, we had several hours of downtime this morning in Aguas Calientes. This little museum was worth the walk, though its greatest flaw in my mind is its lack of accessibility for those who cannot or don't want to walk 30...More
Heard and read about this mis-located museum near the hiking trail. Interesting, but things like exact dates of construction and abandonment, number of occupants, etc were missing. For the price paid, I would expect to have that basic information along with the other interesting details...More
Lovely well kept small museum. Reading intensive. Museum did not have exact change and let myself and a friend in on one ticket. Needed our passports. Was a 20-30 walk/hike from the city. Just follow the bus route and make a right across the bridge....More
We asked our guides specifically where we could see displays of artifacts excavated at Machu Picchu, and we were told the items were in storage at Yale University. They never even told us about this fantastic little museum, we just found it accidentally looking for...More
It is about a 30 minute walk from downtown Aguas. The road you take is the same road that goes to Machu Picchu. It's mostly dirt and the busses to and from Machu Picchu frequently pass you by. Once you are out of Aguas proper,...More
I really enjoyed this museum. It's a small museum and you have to walk there, but it's an easy walk and it's nice that it's not an overwhelmingly large place. Great information and a nice collection. I found it quite enjoyable. And, there is a...More
Walking from Aguas Calientes, you take the road toward Machu Picchu that the buses take. Where you cross the river, you take the pedestrian bridge to the right of the vehicle bridge. At the far end the pedestrian bridge, you turn right onto the dirt...More
Good experience prior to our next day trip to machu picchu and waycachina.
Its a 30 min walk from town, good activity to do if you arrive the day before your trip to Machu Picchu. There are not a lot of signs from town how...More
You can walk but it will take about 45 mins. The buses to MP go past it but will not drop you off!
The only other way would be a taxi.
I don't know the opening hours but you can check that on their website.
