We had hired a scooter and toured the island and looked for this place as we had read about it. It's a gem really. The guide at the ticket office ( a very ramshackle hut) led us to the graveyard through mangrove swamps on a...More

I would recommend a visit here. The ticket 'office' is just off the main road. You have to buy a ticket to attend. I think it was 12,000 Ariary. They lead you a LONG way and over rocks/up a small slippy slope to the graveyard....More

Interesting historical site to visit on Ile Santa Marie. Fun, 'off the beaten track' path leading to the cemetary and a great view of the bay once you're there

We visit pirate cemetery when we in St.Marie, it was interesting to see the history even not very organized...but we had local tour guide for this trip so very helpful for understanding the story of pirate.

This is an interesting place but don't go out of your way to visit it. There is quite a hike to the actual cemetery which is quite small but perched on a little hill with nice views of the sea and the Catholic Church.
