Do not pre-pay for a tour with Dilbert tours or their owner Michael Almendares. THIS IS A SCAM. He will take your money and not refund you. He isn't even living on the island. He took money we paid for a group of 7. He claimed his driver had been in an accident and could not pick us up. He acted like he would send a refund but yea right.... never happened. Luckily we were able to file fraud with our bank and get reimbursed. All of the locals on the island know who this person is and warned us to NEVER pre-pay for an excursion. Only pay once you have arrived and are actually on the excursion.

Had a cruise in October 2019. Paid in full by September 2019 because the owner messaged and offered a discount for payment in full. The day of they messaged that there was a death on the zipline but we could choose another company but had to pay again and the initial payment would be refunded within 3 days. What could we do on the day of?? We paid again. As of today 3 months later, have not received a refund and nothing but excuses and promises of a refund from the owner!!! Asked the "new" zipline company about the death and they hadn't heard anything about it and said it's such a small island that would be something everyone would know about. We have used this company twice before with no issues. I'm sorry to say we will not be using them again due to this incident. Have screenshots of all correspondence if needed.

I NO LONGER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY......I’m really disappointed with this company and how they’ve handled business lately. My client arrived in Roatan off of a Carnival ship back in October. Michael Almendares called them and told them their excursions had been canceled due to a sickness with the animals at one of the petting zoo,s and that they would need to refund their money. It was going to take a few days for the money to be refunded, so I refunded my clients money too them and Michael was to send it to me when he received it. I was trying to help my clients from being out of pocket the money since they where now having to pay for a new excursion with a new company. Ive Reached out to Michael several times and he said he would send it. Haven’t seen it yet and it’s been almost 2 months. I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but i no longer recommend using this company

They don't deserve 1 star, but had to give something 🤬🤬

If visiting roatan do NOT use these guys, and if you do definitely only pay the deposit and not full anount!!! We still have not been given our refunds since they canceled due to weather 🤬 they originally said they would be in our accounts by the next morning...10 days later and a handful of other promised refund dates, still nothing. Also appears on their messenger that they are trying to ignore us.

My family was SO excited about this day in Roatan. It was our BIG cruise excursion, and I felt really good about it because the reviews were all wonderful. HOWEVER, our day was not awesome. Getting out of the port was fine, and finding our guide was fine, but our guide was ever so boring and not at all engaging. My husband attempted to engage him in conversation all day long and he received one-word responses. We never really knew what was happening next, unless we specifically asked him. We showed up to a Sloth place, and he said, "When you pay me, I'll go get your wrist bands." I was like, "Um, we are paid in full." He called someone, had us get back in the tiny little, no-leg-room minivan and he drove us to a different sloth place. We enjoyed our sloth experience. Next, he took us to a chocolate factory, which, by the way, is free to ANYONE whether you book a tour or not, but we really appreciated the experience. Next, we did our BIG, SUPER FREAKING IMPORTANT snorkeling stop, and it was horrible. We didn't know why we had stopped at this little hotel area, but we got out, not knowing what to expect. Our guide walked us through a lobby to a pier and told us to wait. We got on a small water taxi (the smallest we have ever been on) and got thoroughly soaked on our way out to . . . what? A snorkeling catamaran? A small bay? NO. It was a spot in the middle of the ocean with several other small vessels roped together. Okay, no problem. We were already soaked, so apparently, this was our snorkeling excursion and we should just jump in. The boat captain (who required an additional deposit way back when we booked) equipped us with our gear. My son's mask was held together by fishing line and broke as he was putting it on. My husband gave him his mask. SO, now my husband didn't have a mask. No problem. The boat captain took his mask off of his face and his snorkel OUT OF HIS MOUTH and gave it to my husband. UGH. I died. We pieced together life jackets, but my older son (16) didn't get one. My 13-year old son was handed a toddler life jacket . . . the kind with the head support. UM, no. I gave him mine. I took some random jacket made for a person about twice my size, which literally FELL APART as I was taking it off at the end. We snorkeled, which was very stressful since we were trying to stay with our teenagers and keep up with our boat captain while fighting the current and still try to enjoy the ocean. I can say that the ocean life was wonderful, but I was a stressed-out mess by the time I climbed the (borrowed from another boat) ladder into our tiny water taxi. Another soaking back to the pier at the little hotel, and we were SO relieved that it was over. The little hotel had a great bar and cheap food (salvaging the day!!), which our family enjoyed. After we were done eating, we couldn't find our guide anywhere. We looked around for a while. The hotel people looked around, and then we ordered a couple more drinks because OMG. He FINALLY showed up. We skipped the rum factory tour and went straight to the ship because we were just ready to be DONE with our day. If I could do it again, I'd stay at the beach at the port. So disappointing. NOT the fun experience we were hoping for.

Things go wrong and you have to flow with it. With 60+ cruises completed and years of land travel, I've experienced many missteps and learned long ago how to be adaptable. However I expect to get what I pay for and to not get ripped off. I found Alborn Dilbert in the cruise port selling tours. After confirming that each person in our group of 6 would have a window seat we paid and dutifully went to the waiting van...which already had a family of 4 inside. Three of us ended up crammed in center seats. The boy in the other family was loud, obnoxious and kept encroaching on other's space. Our guide Nicky phoned Mr. Dilbert from our first stop. He offered another vehicle sent to retrieve our group, go back to the port and pay him even more to get the experience we negotiated in the first place. Are you kidding? We'll tough it out.

The others wanted to go to the monkey park. We'd been before so opted to skip that and go directly to West Bay Beach. Our driver, Mitchell, insisted we pay an entry fee to go to the beach. I told him we'd been here before and there is no fee to go to the beach, we don't need a chair or resort services. I told Mitchell to take us to one of the public walkways to the beach. He insisted that had changed and we MUST pay. So we are trapped in the van outside of Foster's, which we have no need of, and have to pay or just sit in his van. I ended up paying, and I'm sure Mitchell got a kick-back. Of course while walking the beach I see the numerous public entries to the beach. Ugh. A different driver picked us up so I wasn't able to get my money back. Our guide called Mr. Dilbert and told him what happened, he said he'll talk to us when we get back to the port. Well talking to Mr. Dilbert was a waste of time as it was clear he would not stand behind the actions of his staff and refund me the money I was ripped off. I went to the port office and filed a written complaint. While I was in the port office Mr. Dilbert wouldn't answer the office's calls to his cell. I was told that he would not be allowed to sell his tours at the port for 2 weeks.

Yes I see there are many positive reviews about Dilbert Tours here. I was amazed that Mr. Dilbert wouldn't refund the money his driver cheated me out of. Beware.

If you want to see the best places in Roatan and have the most amazing and caring guides, then you must go with Dilbert Tours! Michael & Tiffany are wonderful! They knew all the best places to take us and even made a detour to help us get some really yummy local food...at a gas station of all places!
They give the absolute best tour! They have very good rates and really make the extra effort to make your day the best ever! We will definitely be going with them again the next time we go to Roatan...we're even thinking of a land vacation just so we could take a few tours with them!

Our family of 8 was going on a cruise and one of the stops was Roatan. Carnival Cruise didn’t have one excursion that fit our needs, so I started looking for an outside company. Roatan Dilbert Tours had awesome reviews so after several messages back and forth discussing options and things we wanted to do I booked with them. Michael Dilbert answered all my questions and got a packet together to fit our needs. It was 5 adults ranging from 65 to 18, and 3 teenagers. I sent payment by PayPal to Michael Dilbert. My only little problem was I never received vouchers for the places we were going. Every time I asked Michael he said he had them and everything would be fine. 2 days before cruise I messaged Michael, he sent me directions on exactly where we needed to be picked up. Our driver was Herman who was AWESOME! He was right where we were suppose to meet him. Our first stop was Daniel Johnson’s Sloth and Monkey which was unbelievable. The sloth’s are so cute. We got to hold the sloth’s. We got to be in the cage with the monkeys and some birds. Herman waited on us. After this he showed us around a bit and drove us through the town’s shopping area. Next stop was Jungle Top Zipline which also has monkey’s, sloth’s and a 24 platform zipline. Then, Herman made sure we made it back to port in time to shop at port. I can not recommend this company enough. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. I never once felt unsafe!

We booked and paid for a two family group in advance - deposited a year before travel and balance a month before - in October due to Cyclone Michael the tour had to be cancelled, no worries as RDT have a refund policy and were two days out from the tour departure. Contacted RDT and we were informed on 02 October that the refund had been processed. We waited, and waited, contacted them by email and private message and then waited again. We were told several times the money was a day or two days away, nothing appeared. Then we were told it was because I had an open case on PAYPAL they couldn't process it to the account, silly me listened and closed the case and the money still failed to appear and now no recourse for PAYPAL to pull funds. Then we were told they would draw money from their savings to pay back the money, waited again and still nothing after "stamping my feet" was given a copy of a letter showing their Banks letterhead stating it would be finalised by 02 Janauary. Not happy with the wait, but at least we had something official. Skip forward three months and on 02 January we finally received the deposit back BUT are still waiting for the much larger balance of the trip cost to be refunded. This is not a small amount of money and because of RDTs so called refund policy my own travel insurance is loathe to touch it. We booked with RDT because they came highly recommended from a past passenger and offered a refund policy, however in hindsight my advice is do not pay for your entire tour upfront with this company, use PAYPAL and if you need to refund do not close a case until you see the actual funds.
