El Faro is atop a hill in the older part of the city. This is an interesting glimpse of Guayaquil, giving you a chance to blend with locals and tourists alike. Also a small chapel at this peak. It was a great day to tour.

The steps leading up to the Lighthouse are numbered - (I won't mention how many!!) but if an unfit person like me can reach the top, so can you :-). The view of Guayacil from atop was worth it. You can climb up the Lighthouse...More

After climbing the 444 steps to get to the lighthouse it is worth the extra climb around the spiral staircase to be able to view the city from the top. Preeyy building in itself and spectacular 360 degree views of the city.

It’s a hard climb up Santa Ana to see the lighthouse and the small church but it is so worth it. I’ve never seen a blue and white lighthouse before and it was beautiful as was the small church, also at the top. The view...More

you have to make it up all the flight of stair to get your reward of a sight. the pics taken from here are wonderful. All will be great only if you make it to the top.

We should have had our cab drop us at the top, not the bottom! However, we climbed all the steps to the lighthouse. During the day, most of the businesses along the way were closed.

The lighthouse (faro) isn't that great. You can climb it, but once you have climbed through the vertical neighborhood called Las Penas to get there, you might need to catch your breath. The lighthouse is less the destination than it is the end of the...More

You need to climb the 444 steps up and then you are the base of theEl Faro light house. The light circle stairs is really easy but a little narrow. Another great view. Love it even on a rain day.

The lighthouse is iconic and worth a visit just to be able to say you did. There is some interesting history you can learn about here, and a very small, very old, chapel you can go inside of. I tried playing the piano, which obviously...More

Short taxi ride from the airport, you should be able to squeeze in a climb to the light house. Splendid view from there; don't forget to visit the chapel when you are up there!
