About
Visovac is a little island owned by the Catholic Church, situated in the area of the lower flow of the river Krka between two waterfalls in Krka National Park - the Roski waterfall and Skradinski buk. Prior to human habitation of the island, it was only a "White rock" in the middle of the lake. It got today's shape thanks to the work of the priests that brought the land to the shallow water and separated it from the water with a wall, so the island with its vegetation became a "little paradise".

On top of the mointain you have a great view on the Visovac Island on which the monastery is located . You can only reach the island and visit the monastery by boat.

Beautiful observation without having to go down
Sep 2019
You can observe the monastery from the road above and there is no need to go down to the river level.

Interesting but not a must see
May 2019
Although i am happy we ferried over to Visovac Monastery, if i had missed it i don't think it would have been disappointed. The monastery houses many pictures of the '91 war and there are missile heads on the grounds to see. The island is quite small so an hour to walk about. Unfortunately it was raining when we went so perhaps that made it not so sweet. It is a beautiful building.

visited here with a boat trip from krka. definitely worth doing. the boat trip is very scenic and comfortable. then the island with the monastery is so peaceful and lovely. nothing there except the monastery so 30mins enough time on the island. perfect to include on a visit to krka.

Visited while at Krka
Sep 2019
As we had walked around (in lots of crowds) around Skradinski Buk we decided to head out on the 2 hour boat trip which included 30 mins stop at Visovac and the monastery. There's not much to see on the Island at all, but we enjoyed the peace and quiet and taking in the beautiful scenery of the park.

Would we visit this island again? Probably not.

Amazing place ruined by a disorganized visit
Jul 2019 • Couples
Although we had boat tickets in advance, we had to wait for three boat cycles to get across the water. There was no proper queue for the boat and other visitors kept cutting in front of our group (ironic, right?). When we finally arrived for the tour, the guide said that sorry, she was understaffed and could only give us a cursory 5 minute talk about the place. Many of the museum pieces were out for restoration and the church was in use. If you are motivated to read the history yourself, I think this is an amazing site that is rich in history and tradition. If you are not able to read about it yourself in advance of your visit (or bring your own knowledgeable guide), then skip the boat ride to the island and just enjoy the spectacular views of this place from shore.

Pretty
May 2019 • Family
It was a pretty little monastery on a tiny island. The boat ride was really cold, sailing into the head wind. Glad we had jumpers and rain coats! Overall a pleasant 2hrs, but I wouldn’t say it’s a definite must see.

Nice and beautiful place
Sep 2018 • Friends
We went there from Krka National park. The boat ride was very relaxing (45 minutes each way). We had 30 minutes (which is enough) on the island to go around and visit the monastery. It was a really lovely experience that I wouldn't mind to do again.
