Tashilumpo has a lot to offer. Taking time to take photos and the kora around the monastery climbs the hill and is excellent for views of Shigatse and valley.

A wonderful monastery, great sculptures, great wallpaintings. A highlight: the pilgrims way circling the monastery. Strongly recommended.

This large monastery is well worth a visit, just to see a 100ft tall temple enclosing a massive effigy of the future Buddha. Wander around and watch the monks doing their daily chores and as you leave, you can wander back in to the town...More

It’s a nice walk in a Monastery if you’re in Shigatse with some free time. But if you don’t have the time, I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this Monastery, there are more impressive one in Lhasa

the Tashilunpo monastery is located at the west part of Shigatse city ,which is one of the six Tibetan Buddhist Gelup-pak school monastery in U-tsang region ,it is built in 1448 by the No 1st Dalai Lama .
