My family loved the trails and the view overlooking Birmingham. It's a great place to get away from modern life and enjoy some time outdoors. Highly recommended.

This preserve is a gem not far from the city center or airport. I spent 75 minutes walking in the hilly, well marked trails. I did not find any scenic overlooks, but I only did about 1/4 of the trails on the map. If you...More

We wanted to be outside on this beautiful day so many folks we spoke with recommended this park. The visitor center has some dedicated employees that were very helpful and got us on a nice trail with a view.

This was a great day hike with the family! Park and trails are well maintained. We also took our dog and he loved it as well. Plenty of benches for a quick break. Beautiful views!

The canopy of the trees gave us enough shade to find this Alabama heat tolerable. The trails are well marked and we were able to refer back to the cellphone picture we took at the trail head. Not completely flat, so gave us a nice...More

Our 4-5 mile walk through this pretty park took us through lush forest, past a quarry, and up to a beautiful overlook of the city of Birmingham. Signage was very good, with trails color-coded to correspond to the free map available at the visitor's center....More

No, because Ruffner Mt. is a nature preserve (not a more general-use park like Oak Mt. or Red Mt.); they want to minimize roadkill of slow-moving animals, and lessen rutting erosion on trails.
