We catered a boat in from Nyaungshwe, the hotel reception staff told us that in order to access this place, there is an additional charge of 5,000 kyat. Since this place is a must go in Lake Inle, we agreed to the price. The ride...More

You visit this site after a 1/2 trip in a long tail boat and disembark and walk up the hill. All around are ancient stupas varying in size and state of disrepair, some are almost lost, but some are being restored carefully. You get ambushed...More

Massive, wide spread pagoda complex with literally hundreds of small and mid size pagodas. Most are in bad condition, but some are being restored. Just up the road from the boat landing there are a group of beautiful, crumbling old pagodas which can make for...More

Magic place in a small village about 40 minutes far from Inle lake. You can travel by bus or by boat.

As one gets off the boat at Indein village at one end of Lake Inle one is surrounded by local women in colourful attire urging you to buy their woven crafts. A walk along the narrow path through bamboo clusters and then a covered walkway...More

This area reminded me very much of Angkor Wat in Cambodia the way trees had become an integrated part of the temple structures. Certainly this is on a much smaller scale regarding the vegetation encroachment but there are literally hundreds of ancient temples from 17th...More

Truly beautiful area with mix of new and old temples and pagodas up river from Lake Inle, and a truly scenic trip to a fun site with Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones visuals over a wide area

The best stupas area around Inle lake. Why? Because many are not renovated, they are lookin' old and impressive. Other places, eg. Kakku All, or nearly All are painted, plastered etc.

Our guide picked the end of the day to get there so there would be less people and not hot. He was right, we were pretty much 10 people on the whole site and only a few shops were still open (ready to bargain as...More

Where else in the world can you see anything so unique?! Bit of a walk from the local village, and becoming a bit touristy too as the local people get better at hassling you for money, but worth it. Great photos to be had, and...More

Try to use the same boat / guide to bring you there. At the monastery there might be boats available but I can't confirm. Best to check before you get on the lake
