I thought it would be a sort of Chinatown but not at all. Not photogenic, only good for great restaurants.

Whereas before this district had a distict Japanese character, it is taken over by Chinese, selling cheap and cheerful made in China. Easy to get good Chinese food as Japanese restaurants are closed outside meal hours!

I was awestruck to see such a crowd of Japanese people living outside Japan. They have sushi all around the place. The Japanese handmande crafts are available at a bargain.

I have visited this street market on a Saturday as I was told that it only happens on Saturdays by the tourist information centre in Paulista Avenue. The market itself is superb and has loads to offer including traditional Japanese food. Highly recommended
