About
In 2004 the Pinacoteca de São Paulo entered this other building, at Largo General Osório, which originally housed warehouses and offices. The building was completely renovated by architect Haron Cohen and start receiving part of the Pinacoteca's extensive exhibition program. On the ground floor - that hosted the State Department of Political and Social Order of São Paulo, between the years 1940 and 1983 - is the Memorial da Resistência de São Paulo, a place dedicated to preserve the memories of those who resisted the political repression in Brazil.

Neighbourhood:
Sé, which derives its name from Sé Square, is a central neighbourhood in historic São Paulo. Close by, the Law School, the Museum of the Court of Justice and the Metropolitan Cathedral offer inspiring architecture. If you are looking for cultural activities, head to Caixa Cultural and check the schedule. In the area there is a popular pedestrian street called “Rua Direita”, one of the first streets in the region, which today marks the crowded perimeter. Sé is a great area to explore during daytime, but use caution if visiting alone at night.

This museum is one of about eighty museums in Sao Paulo. It is not my favorite museum but it has many well known pieces or art. The museum seems well maintained. There is a restaurant on the grounds of the museum but the restaurant is not, in my opinion, worth a second visit (or even a first).

This is a wonderful museum. Very well kept, the collection is amazing. The building is something worth paying attention. It is an old building, restaured to host the museum. The surroundings are wonderful as well.

I really enjoy going there often. They have a compelling permanent art collection. Every month they also have a great variety of presentations. I recomment it.

I absolutely love this building architecturally and the exhibits that it hosts. Check their website for the temporary/rotating exhibits. A great way to spend a few hours in the afternoon!

I like to visit the Pinacoteca. Aside having a nice park next door, for picnics and relaxing, the Pinacoteca is a beautiful place that always has different exhibitions going on.

If you enjoy going to museums, that's the place to go. With an itinerant and fix expositions, you'll be exposed to rare paintings of Brazil. Some sculptures and a café contribute with the place atmosphere. Take your time and be delighted.

The building looks lovely from the outside; but since it was being refurbished, we were not able to look inside.

Fascinating experience with local cultural exposition of paintings, sculptures, and literary work with significance for the Brazilian cultural development - a must go place.
