The Metro was a handy way for us to get from Ipanema downtown, to Christ Statue. It was clean and safe. Plenty of passengers, but not mobbed. Easy to but a card for multiple trips. And they have a women only car during rush hour....More

The subway is clean, convenient and a safe way to travel.The prepaid cards save you time and are easy to use.English signs go along the Portuguese and is also used in the announcements about the approaching station.

Among the most expensive fares in Brazil R$ 4,30 each trip. Sunday and holydays the more intervals between trains, almost 15 min wanting at platforms. Signs and audio in english.

Super cheap way of getting around. It does make a lot of stops but gets you where you need to go. Think it helps if you speak Spanish since it was a tad confusing which train to take but the people there were super friendly...More

We had access to the metro line 4 from Leblon during the olympic games which is great way to get around Rio, when it is fully operating you can transfer to the BRT and go onto Barra or on to the BRT networks
