The best way to experience it up close and without traffic is to take one of the bay trips that leave from the Marina in Gloria. It's a pretty impressive bridge!

Not just a bridge between two cities ( Rio and Niterói ), this is one of the biggest engineering work ever in Brazil ( in the 70´s ). When we cross this bridge we can see beautiful views of Rio city, Rio harbours and many...More

The interesting things about Ponte Rio-Niteroi are the things that can be seen from the bridge. Ponte means bridge in Portuguese. Today I rode a bus from Niteroi to Rio. It is an experience I don't normally take advantage of, but at least it is...More

The Ponte Rio-Niteroi is a bridge that connects Rio de Janeiro and Niterio by crossing the Guanabara bay. It is about 8 miles long. You can get nice views of the bridge from many of the usual suspect vantage points (Sugarloaf, Santa Teresa, etc).

From the top of Sugarloaf I saw this 13km-bridge to connect Rio and Niteroi over Guanabara Bay. Two days later I crossed over it with my private tour guide. It was a smooth run from Rio to Niteroi at about 8:30am, but the traffic from...More

When it is not jammed (rush hours) is a good way to reach Niterói in a daytrip and know a different view of Rio. I use to cross the bridge at least twice a week and i probably has crossed it thousands of times. But...More

When it was first conceived, it intended to save a 100 km journey between Niteroi and Rio de Janeiro. It was finally opened in 1974. On Sunday evening, if you cross the bridge from Niteroi to Rio, you will be blocked by a heavy traffic....More
