The first day we tried to visit the centre was only open to students, the second day we were successful but the upstairs was closed so no view, and the exhibitions seemed to be in change-over. Literally nothing to see! The cafe looked nice.
The house itself is well kept and very photogenic. From its window, you can also shoot some good photos. The content is alas not translated so it is mostly a visual experience. Would love to have been able to read more about Paraty.

I like the fact that it mixed old tradition of Paraty like the Ciranda and the work of very contemporaneous artist. But I had the feeling that it is a work in progress and not yet in its final shape. Well worth the visit though...More
Open in the evening, at least on a Friday when we visited. Lovely restoration and design of one of the classic Masonic homes. Very well presented exhibit about a local music/dance tradition. Cafe, courtyard and other rooms all very esthetically pleasing. Free, contributions requested.
