The indoor part of the museum is impressive and well made, with careful and knowledgeable attention to all details. The outdoor part is also nice, but unfortunately the equipment is generally in rusty condition. The GG1 locomotive is an impressive sight and worth the visit...More

Great museum. I believe you can easily spend half-a-day here. Various railroad cars outside the indoor museum can be visited. The indoor museum has 3 floors of exhibits. Altoona was basically founded as a railroad town and the museum captured well the PA RR History...More

This museum deals with the social history of railways as much as the railway itself. Full of fascinating information it deserves several hours in order to make the most of everything. The roundhouse is where the work in progress is stored. Well worth a visit.

This is a well thought out, interest collections and memorabilia of the by-gone steam locomotive era . The three floors of films, sounds, films and exhibits will fascinate railroad buffs as well as novices. Children seem to enjoy the interactive features, even though they probably...More

It had probably been 15 or more years since my first visit so a return was in order. Earlier in the day I had purchased the "combo" ticket which included Horseshoe Curve and the Museum. For a senior the combo was only $ 2 more...More

Love this place close to Horseshoe Curve and in a real railroading town. Lot's to see and do and and get right on some of the rolling stock. Come here several times a year.

The Railroaders Memorial Museum is downtown and Horseshoe Curve & Museum are a few miles outside of town. If you buy a ticket for either, you can go to the other on the same day for no additional charge.

You can buy tickets at the museum not shade trees there or picnic area The Horseshoe curve has an incline or walk up and there is an area at the top and bottom where you park for shade and a picnic
