One of the Ancient Seven Wonders of the World built for King Mausolus in the ancient city of Halicarnassus. Interestingly enough, this is where the word Mausoleum comes to us from. Located on a small mall site in a residential neighborhood with a few remains,...More

For anyone with an imagination and appreciation of history need to visit this place. A shame it is not in as good a condition as the theatre, but you really can just imagine what structure once stood here. One off my bucket list!

One of the few things to do in Bodrum, but not really worth a trouble. Small and not very well presented.

Mausoleum was one of the ancient world wonders. It was a tomb dedicated to king Mausolus, ruler of Caria during 377-351 B.C. He moved the capital from Milas to Halikarnassos (present Bodrum) in 367 B.C. He started the construction of his monumental tomb in 355...More

Very easy to get to in Bodrum. Not expensive for entry but not a huge amount to see. Interesting for a visit if history is your thing.

We struggled to find it.It is closed Mondays. It costs 10 lira. Really pleased we made the effort. We had it to ourselves. Brought back school memories for my husband.

I was very keen to see the remains of the Mausoleum since I'd studied it in school, but it's mostly chunks of columns left. I think it's worth stopping by, but sadly time has taken its toll on the site.

As every one has said, not a lot left of it but well worth seeing. With my 24 year old daughter who also enjoyed the 90 minutes we spent there.

In May 2018 it was 10 TL to enter and well worth it. Although the ruins themselves are not too impressive the Centre of Interpretation is very good with plenty of information in Turkish and English.

I had seen photos of the Mausoleum as it once was and had expected a monument of some significance. Instead what remains are only bits of pillars, blocks of stone and scattered remains of a building. Hardly worth a visit !
