I specifically sought out Honno-ji because of the historic significance of it. Here was where the great warlord Nobunaga Oda was betrayed and died. Nobunaga was one of the 3 great unifiers of Japan so it only felt right to pay tribute to the man...More

The inner peace you get from visiting this place is well worth the walk. You could ring the bell for your prayers and enter the inner altar to view the golden buddha at the center. You have to remove your shoes to enter.
