Neighbourhood: Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.

This is a nice size mall connected to the underground. It has a variety of stores with reasonable prices. There's even a place to get a foot massage (after long day of shopping). We found interesting Japanese only gifts for friends/family and prices were very reasonable. All salespeople were very helpful and went out of their way to assist.

So I went here to find souvenirs and somethings I wanted to bring back from Japan for myself. I was able to find everything here including clothing, snacks, cosmetics, skin care and more. Such a great one stop shop. The information desk is very helpful as well. That grocery store in the first floor is great for getting Japanese snacks at a good price !!!

We were tired of searching for glutenfree restaurants so we decided to go native. We walked to this shopping mall which turned out to be fantastic. There was a pet store with cute puppies. Some of the major stores that we have in the U.S. -- the Gap, Ikea, Toys R Us, etc. We found lots of neat gifts at the different shops as well as at the major supermarket. The supermarket was awesome. We were going to make omelettes but found El Paso taco kit. They also had the best strawberries I have ever tasted. A lot of the locals were buying it. The ground beef was very fatty; we usually buy 90% lean. Late in the evening, the sushi was marked down.

Aeon Mall Kyoto is located in the heart of Kyoto City and walking distance from Kyoto Station. There are plenty of shopping malls inside Aeon Mall as well as plenty of restaurants. Overall: 5 Stars

Not crowded and the space is big.
Plenty of resting chairs around for tired feet. That’s a thoughtful feature. Not a must if you have limited time but otherwise, it’s a relaxed way to pass time.

Great and big supermarket is in the 1st floor, GreenTea KitKat is almost 1/2 cheaper than in airport. The Rx store is almost 10% cheaper than the one in Kyoto station. There are also a lot of restaurants and food court at the top floor. Daiso is next to the building, a great place to stock up the snacks back to home country!

Aeon Mall was located near to JR Kyoto Station. There were quite a good selection of shops and restaurants inside. During our visit there, X'mas illumination was on by late Nov. Worth to pay a visit there.

Played video games at the arcade and had lunch in the food court on a rainy day in Kyoto. Handy for us to be close by when the weather got unpleasant,

Typical Aeon mall with shopping, a movie theatre, a food court and game center!! I love playing the claw game and winning stuffed animal toys every time..and yes im an adult male lol. Also, there is a great conveyor belt sushi restaurant on the 4th (?) floor I go to every time I am in Kyoto.

Great location close to station (and was across the street from the back exit of my hotel - New Miyako). Great shops including the best Daiso! Also conveyor belt sushi as well as a pretty good Tony Roma's! Don't laugh- after 3 weeks of traveling through Japan it was nice to get some really good burgers and ribs!
