Very beautiful and artistic wooden shrine in a very nice location. Love the surrounding atmosphere. They have many shops around outside the temple selling from nice local delicacies and souvenirs.

The place is beautiful and even if get crowded, the ambient is full of peace. Walking aorund the temple is a great experience and you can get to buy souvenirs and great food outside in the streets

One of the top things to do in Kyoto and for good reason. Location to the Gion district makes it easy to pair with exploration of the historic area.

Visited the other day. Was way overcrowded and when we got to temple it was under renovation. Maybe another time would have been better.

This is the third time I visited this famous sightseeing in Kyoto. Though it is under redecoration, it is still worth to visit. I like to walk the upward road to the temple. Full of young ladies wearing traditional Japanese clothing. Also, lots of shops...More

it was my 3rd visit. This time it was with my family. We spent longer time going through the temple. There was a light snow and my family had a good time experiencing the snow fall.

Was very disappointed in our visit here. Since it's a UNESCO World Heritage site, you must pay to get in, but entrance fees are only about $4US per person. The inside is just too crowded most of the time though. So crowded it's hard to...More

This temple is so huge, but so huge that it impressed me. And it´s all made of wood. It´s very impressive!

Definitely take the journey to see this wonderful and amazingly beautiful temple. As we walked to the temple, it began to snow - what a breath-taking, once-in-a-lifetime moment.

Hi, when I went a few weeks ago it was still under refurbishment. However, we went to the night illuminations and still have enjoyed ourselves. Id still recommend it.

No, a bicycle isn't good in the park. There are a lot of stairs you have to go up on busy streets so a bike would be a problem. Enjoy Kyoto!!
