An 'also-ran', and quite possibly one which has 'seen better days'. Lighting gear for nighttime illuminations scattered around really detracts from the atmosphere, and rather officious staff. With so many gardens to see in Hirashiyama, give this one a miss?

This place is beautiful at night when we visited it. The lights around the garden and a tranquil moment can take me to meditation mood. I am glad I visit this place on our trip to Kyoto. Such a peace and beautiful place.
