I lived here 12 years ago. It's a shame that major companies pulled out and the Island suffered by loosing many supporting businesses (restaurants, movie theatres). It looks like the Island is slowly improving. In summer there's the water park (open for 2 months) and...More

Great place to live and bring up kids. Even if it is a little like fantasy island. That was 20 years ago. And while most of the same stuff is there now the place is a little rundown and less lively. I guess P&G moving...More

Not much of attraction on the island. It's perfect for getting away from crowded city and spending some quiet time.

Rokko Island created from reclaimed land (not that you can tell) was mentioned in most of my guide books, so we allocated a 1/2 day for a visit. We need several short train rides to get there, once off the train the hustle-bustle stopped and...More

Rokko Island is a man-made island off Kobe. In the recent years, it has became an extremely dead town where you couldn't even find a shopping mall. The nearest shopping area is in Sannomiya which is 20 mins bus ride away. If you are looking...More

A great place to live as a foreigner with little kids. It's safe, there is no traffic and one can get around easily on a bike. There are adequate grocery stores and places to get foreign products. In the past two years, many stores/restaurants have...More
