The city of Xian best known obviously for the Terracotta warriors but make sure your trip includes a visit to this amazingly complete city wall.
It takes several hours to complete walking or cycling if you do it all but no need for all that...More
We bought a combined ticket of Forest of Stone Steles Museum and City Wall. Free of charge for seniors with proof of age. We entered from the South Gate at sunset. After we went up the wall, there were too many gates along the side...More
We enjoyed Xian and looked forward to biking on the city wall. But if you are over 60 you cannot rent a bike - they do not have insurance, we were told. So we only walked a couple of miles since it was pretty warm...More
The Xi'an City Wall gives one the chance to see the old city from above, and to get a sense of the vastness of modern-day Xi'an. I would recommend hiring a bike and cycling part or all of the city wall.
This was the best highlight of Xi'an. I highly recommend riding bikes around the city wall. We started our ride at 6:15pm and finished our ride around the entire wall at 8:00pm. It was great to see the city during the daylight but even better...More

Yes, you can rent helmets when you rent your bike. You need a cash deposit to rent the helmets and bikes. I didn’t rent a helmet and it was ok. The wall can get busy with all the bikes but it is a fairly smooth ride.
Once you leave you cannot renter. It’s very inexpensive to get in around 8 US dollars. I would recommend renting the bikes it’s a lot of fun and you can ride at your own pace. Stopping and viewing the city it’s beautiful.
