A very well maintained and informative place. Though a little small and congested, still has wide spices of both local and foreign fauna. The polar bear and the Siberian Tigers are the best attraction.

I love Zoos only if I see the animals being cared for. What I saw was de stressed wild cats walking like mad up and down because their enclosures are small, these cats need space? Having said this, they all looked healthy. There are many...More

Hello, thank you very much for your review! The building, where wild cats are exposed, is very old. In 2013, we completed the renewal of internal exposition space of pavilion: the aviaries were twice enlarged, with facing from natural stone, the under-floor heating and watertroughs...More

I don't know what I was expecting, I don't particularly like zoo's anyway but this place is the saddest I've seen. I came out crying for those animals. They have no space and the space they do have is muddy, boggy and there's very little...More

The zoo is very small and the animals are confined to to small cages. Some of the animals can barely move inside.

Cramped conditions and animals that seemed very sad. The giraffes and polar bears had a fair amount of space but many animals were kept in tiny spaces. Monkeys, big cats, hoof-stock, all with offspring, and caring for their young. I would imagine this all has...More

Half of the cages were empty of animals, maybe because it is winter season as we have been told – really! I love zoos and animals. But I did not like. Dirty and unpleasant.

This establishement needs a total infrastructure rehabilitation, it looks so old and abandonned. Half of the cages were empty of animals, maybe because it is winter season as we have been told. The overall experience did not meet our expectations.More

In colder seasons, heat-loving animals are placed into indoor heated enclosures where visitors can observe them as well. Because of that, some of the outdoor enclosures are empty in winter. In addition, some of the exhibits are under reconstruction at the moment. Leningrad Zoo was...More

As a frequent visitor of zoos, it is obvious to me that Leningrad Zoo is well behind in its efforts to modernize enclosures (sizes, equipment) and upgrade it's aesthetics. That being said, it has an odd charm; we went in the winter when it was...More

Leningrad Zoo is one of the smallest zoos in Europe. It was founded in 1865 at the exact same place where it is now, and therefore all the stages of its 150-year-long history have had their impact on what it looks like today. At the...More
