This building houses the Impressionist collection of the Hermitage and possibly has the largest collection of Monet's paintings outside the Louvre. It also has an extensive collection of French impressionists. The entrance to the building which is on the other side of the square from...More

If you love the Impressionists this is a must see. No crowds like the Hermitage and lots of art ......paintings that never exhibit elsewhere so go if you are in St. Petersburg. Some of Monet's and Picasso's paintings are their earlier work but I found...More

After making our way through the very crowded Winter Palace / Hermitage, it was a blessed relief to spend some time in a quieter setting looking at possibly one of the greatest collections of Impressionist and early 20th century French paintings in the world. If...More

The Hermitage's amazing collection of art of the mid 1800s onwards resides here. Its another huge building full. We loved the collection but found the layout of the floors and rooms a little confusing.

Part of Hermitage, across from Winter Palace. Start on 4th floor where the impressionists are and work your way down. Incredible collection. Decorative art on 3rd floor. Beautiful views to Palace Square and Hermitage through windows. Note is a building within a building. Way to...More

For reasons I cannot understand, there are no lines at the General Staff Building, despite the wonderful collection of impressionist and post-impressionist artists, beautifully displayed. Tons of space between each work. A bench in practically every room. Perfect lighting. Here's a hint for the Hermitage:...More

Unbelievable collection of impressionists. Felt that everyone had their own room from Cezanne to Van Gogh and wonderful Monets. Also later works with great Picassos from his blue period. Also a whole collection of 19th century european paintings. Amazing collection. Completely wonderful to see and...More
