It is right in the middle of the big square. In front of the Hermitage Museum. It is one of the symbols of the city. Not far from the center.

Presiding over the enormous Palace Square is the Alexander Column. It is dedicated to Alexander I who led his country to victory over Napoleon. The figure at the top is an angel holding a cross.

Alexander Column is an iconic St. Petersburg landmark located in the huge Palace Square. It is a unique location surrounded by beautiful buildings, and it is worth seeing and taking some pictures in the area.

This monument isn't anything really out of the ordinary. But the square it's located in is really cool. Definitely a must see.

It's very likely that you will visit the hermitage meuseum if you are in st petersburg. This monument is right outside the museum and it's quite impressive given that the massive column is standing alone on it's own weight without being fixed with any mechanism....More
