A monument to Karl Marx's buddy
Dec 2020
Not many foreigners heard about a Karl Marx, even less so about this guy. Russians, however, experienced practical application of these two Germans' theory the whole nine yards. With their blood, broken fortunes and pretty often - lives.
I was here on a cold and gloomy December day while strolling around. There are, naturally, much more interesting sights nearby so do not bother with seeing it. Just note that together with his crony this Friedrich Engels was the founder of Communism, the most ruthless ideology in the history of my country. It cost us millions of our compatriots. Never again!
The monument is green. With envy? To all those who now live their normal lives and think about natural things - love, hope, compassion, sympathy. And not about his abstract ideological - and gory - chimeras.
Not recommended!

Monument to co-founder of marxism
Aug 2018 • Family
The Friedrich Engels monument is a short subway ride from Revolution Square where the statue of his friend, Karl Marx, is located. This monument is easily reached by taking the red subway line 1 to Kropotkinskaya. As soon as the station is exited, the statue of Engels will be seen at Prechistensky Gate square. The statue is on an "island" in the road, so you may have to cross a couple pedestrian crossings to get there. Engels is sculpted in a pose of arms folded across his chest. The base of the statue has his name etched in Russian script. It was installed in 1976, and sculpted by J Kozlovsky.

There was a statue of Marx and Engels in Revolution square in 1918, but poor construction resulted in it being destroyed the following year, and ultimately replaced by the sculpture of Marx. If visiting Moscow, it will be great to get photos of both. Engels founded the Marxist theory with Karl Marx in 1845, and the communist manifesto in 1848. They were a great influence on Lenin and his Bolsheviks. Other attractions nearby include the Patriarch Pedestrian bridge, Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and Alexander II statue.
