This little gem of tranquility was a highlight in my five days in Moscow. The Assumption Cathedral was the home church of the Metropolitan of Moscow back in the 16th Century when it was built. The residence is in the back, accessed from the cathedral...More

If you are a tourist in Moscow don't waste your time coming here, it's not that easy to reach without your own transport and it is essentially just a dilapidated, but of course pretty, set of old church buildings. There are more interesting sets of...More

Just behind a modern Holiday Inn and a few wide traffic jammed roads you find a small park with a few old wooden houses and this church complex.Nearby there's an empty old building, all red from its bricks, with an Oriental/Asian feeling.

It is a wonderful place with great atmosphere, though it is very small, wouldn't spend more than an hour there.

This is close to where I live in walking distance. It is beautiful. But I am not sure it worth to assign a trip or not. All depend on your taste.

You turn around the corner and travel back in time. I'm still wondering how it miraculously survived. You won't find anything like that anywhere else in Moscow, I hope it will last for some time and won't be renovated too much.

Very old and for the most part unrestored church and complex just outside the Garden Ring and very near the Novospassky Convent, which is worth a visit as well, although the main bell tower is currently under restoration.

This is a very old terracotta church and building that at first glance looks like ruins. It does however give it a certain charm but do not go out of your way to visit it.
