The area
Neighbourhood: Presnensky
The neighborhood is divided into two major halves by Krasnaya Presnya street: the southern part highlights Moscow city – businesses contained in skyscrapers along with the White House - where the Russian government works. The north is a bit more relaxed and casual, visitors here will find the Moscow zoo, National Centre for Contemporary Arts and a number of fine restaurants. The beautiful neo-gothic Cathedral of the Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is usually packed with the events such as organ music concerts.

Mediocre bathhouse with bad personnel
Jul 2016 • Friends
This bathhouse is at mediocre level at best. Finding a good bathhouse in Moscow isn't hard, so no reason going to this one. Big pool is a plus, though, as it's a rare facility in a Moscow bathhouse. Personnel was very rude.

Would really recommend for any day trippers who love being pampered and most of all ...... love brunch . They do a high quality brunch at knock down prices. Cannot praise this place enough

Authentic Russian experience
Oct 2014
So I'm going to write an English review, because I would have loved some for this!!

I went to the banya today, and had an absolute blast! The best thing about this is it feels genuine - the sanduny banya sounded a bit too touristy for my liking, and I wanted to experience Russian life properly!

I went by myself - it probably would have been better with a friend as there is a lot of sitting around talking (or in my case, sitting quietly as no one spoke English!!)

It is quite expensive - about 1800 rubles all in. You give your coat in to the bag check, grab some branches (oak or white birch - free) and then head upstairs. MAKE SURE YOU EITHER BUY OR BEING FLIP FLOPS WITH YOU. The steam room is so incredibly hot - you can barely walk in there. I didn't, and have burnt the bejesus out of my feet (and went to buy some straight away anyway!)

After reception, you go into a changing room where you will leave your things. There are no lockers, so don't bring valuables etc other than enough money to pay - luckily I left my passport at my hostel.

Get changed (everyone, and I mean everyone is naked. I was worried at first, but it's fine and accepted, so suck it up princess and drop those pants!!!) and go through the double doors where there are loads of benches. Grab a bucket and fill it with water from a tap and soften your leaves in the warm water.

Then comes the fun part. Fold your towel into a small bum sized packet and go into the steam room with it and your branches - brace yourself, it's unbelievably hot. If you are with a buddy, hit each other with the branches. If like me, you are by yourself, hit yourself with them.

Sit for as long as you can (I lasted about 7 mins), then run out and pour a bucket of ice water over your head - it's as bad as it sounds!! there's also an iced water chamber, a sauna and a pool if you want. The sauna is a relief - it's so cool in comparison!

Most wear hats to protect their hair - I didn't and my hair hasn't fallen out yet!!

Repeat this procedure as many times as you feel able to - I managed four 5-10 min segments in the steam room.

Be careful though. It puts a large strain on your heart. I'm a very fit 23 year old, and I felt awful after the first round - really dizzy and ill - I thought I might pass out, and it has taken a beer or two to calm it back down!! Just take it slow - it really is taxing.
