Try to go with a local, such as Timisoara City Tours, so they can explain the significance of the bastion. It is interesting to see but you will not know the full story if you go alone. Lots of history here.

While doing a tour, the guide told us that this bastion was once a nice meeting place for young people with nice restaurants. Because of corruption those bars had to close down and now its an empty square

These remains are of old fortifications from the time of Maria Theresia. It is a minutre walk from Union square and it is worth going there to see it. There are restaurants near by.

Located in the western part of the old town, between Boulevard Ionescu and Boulevard Revolution of 1989. Built in the early 1700's sits the remnants of the defensive city walls. Now used for commercial purposes. Definitely worth a look when visiting Timisoara
