Avram Iancu was a local hero - a lawyer by occupation and a revolutionist by spirit, who led an uprising in Transilvania against the Hungarians, forming alliance with the Austrians. His statue rises high above the square and overshadows it. Impressing! We stayed in Beyfin...More

If you're looking for a piece of art, don't come to see this statue. But if you're looking for a good example of nationalistic kitsch, it's a must see. Quite a shame that this statue is to be found in one of the most beautiful...More

The structure is huge and imposing. The setting is nice - in the middle of the square. You can rest a little on one of the benches near-bye or visit the cathedral.

Nice square in front the Orthodox Cathedral , however the statue itself it`s not a piece of art. On the opposite side you can see the National Opera that it`s worth visiting or attend a show.

The statue itself does not worth a visit...the plaza and surrounding areas ( buildings, the national theater and the cathedral) yes...the fountain surrounding it is ok especially if you catch evening hours when they play music along with a 'water dance' of the fountain. If you...More
