We loved this beach with its shallow waters and soft sand. Coming from St Gilles les Bains where the beach is very small or covered with coral and the waters are much more aggressive (more for surfers), this was a welcome respite!
It is the best beach I have been to in La Réunion, and heard the same from some locals.
Here are some of the reasons.. The sand is nice, the water is not too deep if you have children, good place for snorkling, and most...More
White sand beach scattered with bits of coral. You can swim out about 200 meters and there is plenty of underwater sea life to see at a constant depth of 1-2 meters and you don't have to worry about sharks here - but be wary...More
Easy to find, not too difficult to park, Plage de l'Ermitage was a great first beach for our family to visit on Reunion. It was clean and safe, especially comforting between the lifeguard zones. The lifeguard was active on his paddle board telling snorkellers if...More
The beach is beautiful, clear water, lots of corals (by now), fishes all around, shadow provided by the pine forest. During the week days is much less crowded than the weekend. Go and hang your hamock, have a drink and see the sunset or do...More

A very long and beautiful beach in a huge lagune. No sharks (we are divers and have not seen sharks in Reunion :-)) as well there are no big waves. Good for snorkeling but be aware of the tiny picasso triggerfish. Take some sandals with...More
