After a demonstration of how they build the islands you get a tour of their homes...then have them beg you like a street vendor to buy something. Do your self a favor and admire them from afar.

We were so impressed with this trip to the islands, good information was given by our guide, the people themselves were so nice and not pushy. The children were so sweet. I would recommend people to go for the ultimate experience

These islands are worth seeing, unlike anything I have ever seen before. The islanders were welcoming. A novelty one off visit.

It was interesting and quite amazing to see the islands. A guidebook suggested that there are folks who actually live in the tradition of the Uros Islands because those open to visitors are over the top commercialized. I know they have to make money, but...More

Very interesting visit to these floating reed islands that a community lives on. Interesting talks and explanations of how they create, maintain and live on the islands. You will get a sell though on their hand produced goods, so come prepared with cash as there...More

It's beautiful and people are welcoming. The families sell some things made by themselves, it's beautiful but overpriced - you must bargain.

All tour agencies offer a quick stop at floating Uros islands. It‘s unbelievable that people stick to their tradition and renounce to the privileges that living at the peninsula has. We visited a floating island with 5 houses (5 families) on it. IMAGINE 5 families...More

The main thing is to learn about the history, how the floating islands are formed and the way of life on the islands. It has however become quite commercialized along with activities tailored to tourists.

I didn't find it 'touristy'. In fact I liked to contribute to the community. I had a 2.5 hour tour, which was enough for me, but it would be nicer to stay on the island than stay in Puno town. I spoke to one couple who... More
