Our Lovely Long Walk
Jan 2020
We left our cruise ship and took a very long walk along the waterfront before we boarded our tour bus. The views of the sea and the pleasant seafront neighborhood were splendid.

Great wildlife
Sep 2019
Walvis Bay is the 'Bay of Whales'. The best way to see the wildlife is to take a boat trip out into the bay. We saw whales, Cape Fur Seals and plenty of birds. Both a seal and pelicans landed on our boat so we could see them close up - a real treat.
There are some good, reasonably priced and well stocked souvenir shops when you get off the boats as well as bars and cafes.

Seals and jellies and birdies, oh my
Dec 2019
Okay, I apologize to the flamingos, gulls and pelicans whom I just called "birdies", but it was all I could think of to fit what I was going for.

Anyway, great place to watch the wildlife, including seals, jellyfish, and various birds, including flamingoes depending on what time of year you're there (rainy season, basically).

On the waterfront you can also have tasty seafood, buy some souvenirs, and just relax while smelling the salty air.

Getting close to nature.
Dec 2019
On the waters edge with the views over towards the port is the Walvis Bay Yacht Club - which is the most prelevant of the buildings. Nearby there are various cafe / coffee shops and bars, together with with tourist boat trip and dive offices. We thought that the tourist souvenir hops here were good value / best stocked and had staff that were best motivated.
But by best the most interesting sight was that of 2 young fur seals resting on the beach / slipway; so relaxed were they, we managed to get as close as 2 foot away from them. Pelicans and flamingos also around Lovely peaceful area (in midweek)

Sea, sand dunes, seals & flamingo.

Catch a boat and do a half day cruise or a 2 hour flight along coast and down to Namib desert. Also enjoy the sea food and watch wild life. Note also a large town for Namibia because of the production of salt and fish canary combined with tourism.

"Flamingo spotting"
Oct 2019
Walvis Bay Waterfront is an ideal location to picture and observe flamingo's and other water birdlife. There is a nice walkway from where you can easily park and take a hike along the shore.

Fantastic bird life
Sep 2019
We drove down to the waterfront from Swakopmund to behold the 70,000 or so Flamingos which was amazing. We also drove out to Pelican point ourselves and saw Pelicans and all number of storks, ducks and other unusual birds. All for free! A must do on the Skeleton Coast.

Nice little curio shops
Aug 2019
This is a tourist magnet. Badger your prices. Real Namibian curio's. There are a small parking available. Make sure you lock your car and keep valuables out of sight.

Amazing sunsets
May 2019
Amazing sunsets while dining in one of several eateries present. Quiet, nice breeze, flamingoes, pelicans, seals and various birds. Very relaxing place and really good food presented by several chefs in the area.
Local tribesmen selling trinkets in the parking lot, and a couple of nice souvenir shops as well.
