About Catamaran Charters
From meeting pelicans to viewing playful seals and, if luck permits, leaping dolphins and shy turtles - all this and more on our daily morning educational dolphin and seal cruises. We depart at 09h00 (check-in 08h30) every morning from our Jetty at the Walvis Bay Waterfront for a marine educational sightseeing tour in the bay area in search of the marine big 5: Whales, Dolphins, Mola, Leatherback turtle and seals. While serving hot coffee and tea, our initial route takes us past oyster farms to Pelican Point with its landmark lighthouse and 60,000 resident Cape Fur Seals. In season (July to November), larger mammals such as the Southern Right Whale and Humpback Whales are often spotted. Bottlenose, Heaviside and Dusky dolphins are regularly seen, as are Mola Molas and Leatherback Turtles. Our journey from Pelican Point takes us past some of the more interesting ships and oil rigs in the bay as we serve fresh oysters with sparkling wine, savoury snacks and desserts.

Wonderful experience. Would recommend this activity to any avid whale watcher. If you are just looking to enjoy the ocean and its beauty this is also the cruise for you. The staff are not only knowledgeable about the local wildlife but also very competent in what they do. Expect to enjoy oysters and other fish delicacy. All manner of limitless drinks served.

Wow what an incredible day with a brilliant tour operation. Everything ran so smoothly from start to finish. The skipper Mike and guide Monique were absolutely fantastic and so full of knowledge about the marine environment. You can just tell that they have had years of experience between them. We saw Heaviside's dolphins and a Mola Mola sunfish besides all the normal animals and birds. Mike's knowledge of the dunes and the history of Sandwich Bay was quite astounding. I have been out with other operators in Walvis Bay, but these okes are definitely a cut above the rest.

A really nice experience, even if we didn't see any doplhin nor any seal. The staff was nice, explained us many things. We were unluck this day, this is part of the game! The lunch we had onboard was great, offering a great amount of fish, meat and vegetables based food.

First, be prepared. It's COLD! I had on a winter coat and hat, and was thankful that they offered us brandy and blankets! Also make sure you have a camera with a good zoom. This was an excellent tour! The seal colony is beyond cool (no pun intended). The company rescues and rehabilitates seals, so a few of them were so comfortable with the crew that they jump right on board and pose with people! We also had two pelicans on board for most of the tour (the crew was vigilant cleaning the deck after them). We saw seals, dolphins, whales and countless birds during this tour. They served a lovely lunch complete with oysters (if you're into that sort of thing) and champagne! There was plenty to eat, so don't worry if you don't eat seafood (I do not and I was happy). The guide and crew were knowledgeable and friendly. I'm saying "no" to social distancing here because it's impossible to do so while on this boat. I'm vaccinated, so I was comfortable. If you are uncomfortable being close to strangers, I don't recommend this.

Great entertainment, in particular when the 'crowd' is in good mood. Monica, our guide, Lennart the skipper and his team had a wonderful way with the guests. Very informative, lots of excellent photo opportunities. Great chance to just lay back and relax after many "km's" of travelling on road. This organization is really recommendable.....
