I am a university professor from South Africa. I originally thought I was just here to participate in an outdoor sports, but I learned a lot about Namibian history, humanities and archeology from Fanie. This was an unparalleled experience and one of my best tours in Namibia. Highly recommended to any traveler who loves nature, culture and adventure.

We did a quad tour with Fanie in October 2019. Friends have recommended Fanie warmly. And this was really right. First of all we had to pass all the other quad tour companies. Finally we found Fanie just preparing the quads. the tour was fantastic. Quads ran well. Fanie gave us a safe feeling on the quads. He also convinced my wife to ride the dunes down. He is very experienced in history of the Namib and he knows very exiting places including graves of ancient people. finally we rigged for water in the dessert. Amazing.

It was a great excursion that we wouldn't have wanted to miss. Even the kids loved it (19 and 22). It is a wonderful mix of information and adventure. 4 hours was actually too short. And Fanie is a very experienced guide and quad rider.

We spent a very interesting and enjoyable morning in the dunes near Walvis Bay with Fanie. Fanie has an incredible knowledge of the history of the area and took us to many interesting sites. He also provided excellent quad biking tips, such as how to slide down the slip face of a large dune without killing yourself. The quad biking is as fast or as slow as you would like to go. One of our party was petrified to begin with but we got her to have a lot of fun by the end. Our group was aged from 50 to 75 years old.

A trip to Namibia is not complete without a historic quad bike trip with Fanie. Being very very cautious of quad bikes and not exactly a daredevil, Fanie took me under his wing and before I knew it, I was enjoying myself so much I did not want the experience to end. Thank you Fanie, you made me believe I could and I did. Besides the riding experience, the knowledge that Fanie had about the dessert was absolutely amazing, and he taught us so much we did not know or even consider in this moving, living landscape. His knowledge is incredible. The experience on a whole was the best I have experienced and would definitely do it again. So even if you don't like quad biking, trust me Fanie will make sure you love it at the end. The history is what you need to be able to understand the dessert today. Do not miss this and make sure it is on your bucket list.

What an incredible 4 hours. This trip is worth every cent and more, so much history, information and fun. One of the highlights of our Namibia trip and would recommend this as a must.

It is a great historic experience in the dunes.
We had much fun with the quad bikes.
Did it several times already.
I will definitely recommend it to all my friends, family and guests.

We had the BEST morning doing the historical quad bike tour with Fanie. He was an excellent guide: friendly, funny, professional, full of incredible information about the formation of the delta region and passionate about conserving the history which lies within/beneath the moving sand dunes.
This tour will suit anyone over 12 as Fanie has an incredible way of teaching anyone to ride a quad. The feeling of driving over some of the most beautiful undulating scenery is an absolute MUST DO and definitely our most fun day in Namibia.

Once in a lifetime experience.. when you are interested in more than just cruising through the dunes. Fanie´ s knowledge about the area, the history etc. is incredible. It´s an expedition into the depths of the desert and into the history... coming into physical contact with the remains of the ancient culture and people who lived in this incredible up to 6000 years ago. And the driving with the Quads is also lot of fun!! :-). Remember.... no matter how high the dune.. it´s never steeper then 30 degree :-)

Riding the dunes was awesome. Our guide was knowledgeable and patient with all age groups. I felt some of the history and stopping to view bones was a bit much, but maybe just me.i would recommend this activity

Four hours “Historian” educational desert dune quad bike tour: per person/quad until 31 October 2019 - N$ 1100.00 . 1 November 2019 - until 31 October 2020 - N$1150.00 per person/quad.  Small children under 12, who must go double with an adult, pay 50% of the above rates  Children, 12 years and older, full price even if they drive double with an adult. Children who drive their own quad, notwithstanding their age, pay full. From time to time we got specials for Namibian & South African citizens. Please enquire. You got to make reservations in advance.

I have found that usually children younger than 12 years old, with no previous experience of quad driving, is not able to drive this tour on his/her own. A ten year old with ample prior quad driving experience, like owning their own quad at home, can drive the tour. Children, younger than 12 drive double with an adult.

Can a 70 year old grandmother ride the bikes with no problem?

It totally depends on the individual person. If she is full of life and active, she should be okay. If she is very frail and not active anymore, she should rather not do the tour, because she must be able to hold the handles of the quad tight, even when she rides over uneven parts in the sand.
A person who has a fear for heights, can definitely not do this tour.
The oldest person who did my tour, was 89, but a very strong and active 89. Persons in their sixties, find this tour easy.
