We had such an awesome time here ! A real hidden gem .

All the “ inhabitants “ are so well kept and looked after and their cages are beyond clean !

The expert at the reptile farm is so passionate and it is really so awesome watching him interact with all his amazing creatures and showing you how unique each is .
Really worth a visit !

Always a nice place to visit, the owner also showed us the feeding of the chameleons and some sunbathing of the rock monitors.

This is not personal. We dislike snakes too much. Why we did not go, we know. Why so many went and will go agai, we will also not know.

Great experience

So I hate snakes lol but really enjoyed the snake park! I appreciate the attention given to show snakes native to Namibia rather than in general. It's a great place to spend an hour or two and the kids love it. It's not expensive at all and you get to see so much. I recommend visiting to everyone.

If you have a few days in Swakopmund, it is nice to visit the Snake park for an hour or two especially if you gave kids. I was surprised but the place was open on 1st of January :) you would know about snakes and other reptiles living in Namibia and the other parts of the world.

Had a great time looking at the various snakes, lizards, tortoise, and terrapin. The owners were very friendly, knowledgeable and were more than happy to share such information. One of the pythons were shedding while we were there and with a little help, changed from a rather shabby, pre shed snake, to the most beautiful iridescent creature. Quite stunning. We were also shown how docile the black mamba really is as the owner picked up the snake and handled it in a very relaxed manner.
There were newly hatched terrapins and chameleons hatching. All in all a great experience.

Enjoyed it,but it would be more useful if they introduce guides to accompany people so they answer questions.the staff not so friendly the entire Namibia with a few exceptions.there was a point where an employee was arguing with us at the quad biking spot, they don't have time to listen to guests like we do in Botswana the customer is always right

Owner Rude, I miss the previous owner
Dec 2019 • Family
I truly do not know how to rate the snake park, as I only saw half of the exhibits before the owner, Mr Stretch Cowbrink, became abusive and rude, while I told fellow attendees that I had read that cape cobras sometimes hitches a ride with trucks from SA to Namibia. That flew him into a full blown rage, saying that's untrue. When I asked whether Cape Cobras are considered endemic to Namibia, his partner, Ms. Angela Curtis, chimed in that "endemic" is the wrong word used by me. Ms Curtis, if you're reading this, "endemic" means "native", and yes I was using the word correctly. I however did not want to get into an argument.

Mr Cowbrink then hastily put up a show of opening a black mamba cage, grabbing the poor thing and man-handling it while repeatedly pointing at me and shouting "you know nothing about snakes". I repeatedly said I am definitely not an expert on snakes, to which he replied "if you know nothing then rather keep quiet".

Well done Mr. Cowbrink, not only did you manage to put me in my place, but you also taught 3 other gentlemen that a black mamba is not aggressive and can be approached, grabbed and played with.

I did not expect to be treated like this by the owner within 10 minutes of having paid quite a hefty entrance fee. When I informed Ms. Curtis that I was made to feel most unwelcome and did not appreciate the rudeness, her answer was a simple "no, no".

I do feel that if one is prepared to treat your clients this way and thereby causing them to leave, that you must be prepared to refund the entrance fee. But of course, they didn't.

I obviously fully expect further rude or snarky comments from the owner and his partner to this review.

Regarding the exhibits that I did see, the glass cages are clean and the animals are in excellent condition and well fed. I would recommend having a look, but beware, if you are not a snake expert, don't say anything about the snakes, regardless of what you may have read or heard. You never know when Mr Cowbrink may be listening in.
