A relic of inglorious past
Jan 2021
The natives of this beautiful land were forced into conversion from their indegenous belief. This is a stark reminder of that brute force that still stands today. One star

Very beautiful. Usually closed, but on Sundays they have services. One time for English speakers, another time - for German speakers.

Stop and See
Jan 2020
We were wandering around on our self-guided day tour and spotted this impressive European church, stopped it, and were fascinated with the vestiges of the colonial era.

Lovely church with beautiful windows
Feb 2019 • Couples
The church is well worth a visit for a couple of reasons. First of all because it is a lovely building with really beautiful windows but also because it is so much part of Swakopmund's history. We were given a good introduction by a friendly lady and can recommend all who are interested in churches to pay a visit.

Feb 2018 • Couples
We were greeted by a lady who had spent 60 years in swakopmund, and had a wonderful and interesting acount of life in this old german colony.

Very nice church, but rarely open

The church looks great, but it's open just one or two hours a day. It has pretty active comunity and many activities.

We enjoy the family services, especially the new 'Müsli&Message' service. A fun way to start into Sunday :o)

A contract to the arid countryside.

If in Swakopmund do walk up to the church, it's lovely inside and a refuge from the glaring sun. A very helpful guard chatted to us outside and helped my friend down from the rocks.

A colonial landmark not to be missed !
Jan 2016 • Friends
This grande dame of colonial charm proudly graces the skyline of Swakopmund .The lovely baroque style elegant Lutheran church dates back to 1911 and is not overly adorned, but simple and powerful in its simplicity and beauty.. The recently restored stained glass windows and beautiful church bells heard all over Swakopmund will make a lasting impression. It's very special to celebrate Christmas in this church on the 24th December, when the locals and visitors gather here to celebrate Weihnachten during 3 speciall services!
