The Hohenzollernhaus in Swakopmund is a beautiful building with impressive architecture. Although I didn't have the chance to go inside, the exterior is still worth seeing. There are many photo opportunities, it's easy to find, and is within walking distance of other tourist attractions and restaurants such as Altstadt and Chrismann at The Trading Post. If you're in Swakopmund, it is definitely worth a visit.

Wonderful experience staying here. It’s a beautiful piece of art on its own. The interiors are amazing and I have the opportunity to spend my weekend here. Here in Swakpomund you can have a feel of ancient times.

The building, named after the German Imperial family of the same name, dates back to 1909 when it started life as a hotel but in 1912 it was taken over by the municipality after the hotel licence had been revoked by the local magistrate when it became a well-known gambling den.
This is one of the finest colonial buildings in Swakopmund, located on the corner of Libertina Amathila Avenue and Tobias Hainyeko Street. On the roof above the front door, there is a statue of a kneeling Atlas holding up a globe of the world. In 1988 the original cement figure had to be replaced with the present plaster-of-Paris version.
The building was later converted into private flats.

One reason to wander through this unique town is to visit the special architecture, colonial to be sure, evocative of Germany. Sitting out in the hot sun.

This building caught my eye are we drove thru the downtown streets of Swakopmund. It has been nicely restored to it original grandeur and class. The German architecture is quite detailed right up to the front top roof-line pinnacle. It is buildings like this that bring such charm to the Swakopmund downtown and makes it so fun exploring.

BOTTOM LINE: I put this high on my "must see" list when in Swakopmund along with many other old restored buildings. Today it is divided up into condos and not accessible. Worth while even to swing by in your rental car or taxi. Loved it. MY RATING: 9/10.

A beautiful German influenced building in Swakopmund. Take note of the statue on the top of the building. It’s a must stop while visiting this beach town.
