As far as I know this is the only way to get up to the temple. The ride is smooth and doesn't take too long. I can tend to be a bit claustrophobic and afraid of heights but it didn't happen so that was a...More

The Shoshazan ropeway is in Himeji, Hyogo prefecture. Accessible from JR Himeji station by bus , route no.8, costs 270 yen and takes about 30 minutes. Buses depart every 15 minutes or so. The ropeway station is close by the bus stop and a return...More

Short ride but very nice views . Cable car goes every 15 min just be aware of the last ride going down to not get stuck on the hill .

This is a great way to admire the beauty of Shoshazan if you don't want to hike. You can see the 360 degree view from the cabin. Very scenic, very cool, esp in Autumn.

The most convenient way up to Shoshazan Engyoji, the ride provides for a pretty view of the city and the surrounding mountains. Helps that I was there in late autumn, and the foliage was in amazing hues.

It's only a 4~5 min ride that runs every 15 minutes. I went on a Sunday, but there were few people. Has a good view of Himeiji.

At the end station of bus number 8 you take the Shoshazan ropeway to get you partly up to the summit of the mountain. The trip up is very pleasant since Mt. Shosha is not yet really discovered by huge groups of tourists. At the...More

It's a 5 minute ropeway, but what made it fun is that once it started going everyone got happy and started chatting. The scenery is truly beautiful as well. I enjoyed this form of transit after taking buses and planes.

Hi, We did the same day-trip plan for kyoto-himeji-shoshazan. Your planned time of 0730 to 1900 should be sufficient as long as you keep realistic visit duration for Himeji Castle because the last ropeway from Shoshazan to... More
