One of the most interesting castles I've seen in Japan. A lot of interesting information throughout the castle and various areas.

Located on Himeji is this historical landscape. The conservation is impecable and has a lot of history. A must if you are around the Kobe area. Not recommended for persons with bad health since you have to climb a lot of stairs to get to...More

Himeji Castle is beautiful and well maintained in what is essentially its original condition. Although there is not a lot to see inside the castle, it is well worth the time to visit.

It is a large castle with a moth and walls protecting it. Well restaurated. Great pictures to be taken and interesting history behind this castle. Prepare to walk many steps in a warmth and humid close area if you want to claim to the top....More

This was planned by our travel agent and well worth the day trip on the train to get there. More gorgeous grounds and the castle is so well preserved. Get there early so you don't have to wait in long lines.

I wouldn’t tip them anything, they are free guides and don’t expect a tip. Gushing over their wonderful English (Even if it’s not. It’s probably better than your Japanese) and thanking them for a great tour is plenty. Just... More

There are free local guides by the enterance to the castle (ticket booth). Numbers are limited. We got a very nice lady who took us around and explained history and different parts of the castle for over 2 hours.
