Overview
More
Daily tours to the Mabamba Swamps to see the Shoebill. Tours leave daily at 07:30 or at your preferred time. The tour is by boat across the lake to Mabamba Swamps where we proceed by jumping into smaller canoes with guides to the get a view of the Shoebill, and many other birds. The boat tour across Lake Victory is magnificent with a great view of Entebbe, the Airport and more. On approaching the swamps you will pass through a fantastic lagoon with so many birds. Sometimes the Shoebill is found here rather than in the actual swamps. Assembly point is Reception Sunset Entebbe, or, you may be picked from your hotel in Entebbe. All participants must book in advance.

This is a must-see if you like birds. The boat man and the guide worked so hard for me to be able to see a shoebill. On the way, I also saw a hammerkop (sp?), whose head looks just like a hammer. There are no...More

This place is charming for sure. It took us four hours to spot the shoebill but it was worth. There are many other bird spieces, the swamp and boat ride are very nice and even without seeing the shoebill, this attraction was something to see...More

The tour was very fun. Gliding through the swamp on the small boat was fantastic! The swamp itself is gorgeous, with water lilies and other pretty plants. There are so many birds, too. Our guides were ok- they seemed a bit more interested in talking...More

We had a wonderful visit to Mabamba Bay. Our guide, Hannington, was wonderful. The weather was very wet when we visited and he went to enormous lengths to ensure we were well looked after. He procured a giant umbrella for us and sacks for our...More

We met at the dock and took a boat out to the swamp. Nice boat ride. The second boat took us deeper in the swamp/wetlands area and we then switched to a canoe (motorized or pushed by poles depending on the area). We felt lucky...More

Even non-birders will enjoy this trip but expect to see many birds, at least 50 species or more including the prehistoric looking Shoebill. The guides know where to look for them so most people see at least 2 or 3 Shoebills.

The folks who run this tour are friendly, professional, and responsive. Whenever I sent an e-mail, regardless of time of day, I received a response within about half an hour (if that). Because it is an outdoor excursion (in an open boat), weather plays a...More

It's enough to enjoy nature and a serene boat ride through a swamp, I have done this tour 6-7 times - every time guests come to visit in Entebbe. We take the boat from Nakiwogo (next to the ferry), and the boat takes us to...More

The reviews for this outfit are spot-on. I could not have been more pleased with Jonathan and Vincent as guides-extraordinaire. Their intuition and experience (aided by on-the-water intell with fishermen and the network of mobile phone updates)resulted in a quick sighting of the elusive Shoebill....More
