The settlement of Pinara was one of the principal cities of Lycia and existed as early as the 5th century BC. The site is in untouched mountain setting and offers stunning view of the Xanthos valley.

A good picturesque drive from the main Fethiye road, quite long but not scarily sharp or high, the last part over a very potholed unmade track. The city is in the most beautiful location, green, beautiful pines, backed by an unusual flat topped mountain Cragus?Everywhere...More

Pınara offers a lot to explore for the visitors - nature, hiking, scenic walk, rock tombs, amphitheatre and other remains of ancient buildings. The view to the rock face with the rock-cut tombs is amazing. Keep in mind to war proper shoes for the trip.

This is far from the best-preserved of the Lycian towns, but has several features that set it apart from the others. Some of the house-tombs have very high-quality facades, those half-way up the lower acropolis being especially notable. Among these is the so-called `Royal Tomb'...More

The mountain setting is a beautiful remote cliff and valley area deep in the pine forests. Don't be discouraged by some web descriptions about the broken approach road. Pinara is well signposted off the D400 main road and again at the final 2km approach track....More
